Master Key Experience Week 23

Observed: Jihad x2, Asia, & Super Worm Moon

Refining my skills to become the “Observer”.

Returning home after a delightful mini vacation, I was checking my luggage at the airline counter when I observed the nametag of the lovely young girl at the check in counter.  Her nametag was “Jihad”.  Being an infidel, I hoped that Jihad was her given name, an Arabic word that literally means striving or struggling, especially with a praiseworthy aim and not a nickname earned at some undisclosed sleeper cell training compound. No opinions, right? Let it go.

As a nearly 71 year old techie wannabe, for the first time ever, I used the magical QR Code image on my iPhone as my boarding pass. There to greet and welcome me aboard my flight to Atlanta was, once again, the lovely, Jihad.

As the observer, I wondered if the Universe was trying to tell me something Jihadish about my flight. I did a quick mental check. Time to a review my Todd Beamer 9/11 LET’S ROLL scenario. My laptop bag contained all necessary, under the TSA radar, implements of defense/offense.  I’m prepared, LET’S FLY.

Once on board, I got my Bailey’s & coffee, and while aware and observing my surroundings, I enjoyed a pleasant and uneventful flight to Atlanta.

The airport in Atlanta is an observer’s paradise. The full range of Franklin traits can be seen in a matter of minutes. I observed: Kindness, Self-Control, Discipline, Enthusiasm, Courage, Persistence, Specialized Knowledge, Imagination, Decisiveness, Well-Organized, Taking Initiative, and Pleasing Personality.

After scanning my techie QR Code boarding pass to Jacksonville, I was welcomed aboard by a lovely girl with a nametag of “Asia”. Her name brought back many pleasant memories of my time in Asia and I was anticipating a pleasant flight to Jacksonville.

Because of my uneventful flight to Atlanta, I was especially observant while watching the passengers board my flight to Jacksonville.  As a matter of self-preservation rather than opinion, I sorted the boarders as friend or foe. My destination in Jacksonville is a military town, business hub, retirement destination, and home to several professional sports teams. All but two passengers fit the Jacksonville resident/visitor profile. Considering the friend/foe passenger ratio, I was confident that if necessary, we could successfully execute “LET’S ROLL” and neutralize any threat.

Safe at home just in time for a “sit/silence” while observing the March, Super Worm Full Moon from the Amelia Island beach, I recalled my observations all of Franklin’s virtues displayed by my fellow travelers during my vacation. If I could recognize these traits in others these same traits must be in me.

Growth be the Journey.
